"She walked into my little apartment looking down on all my valuables. Was 21 years old and was about to move abroad. "
If you own a lot or very little personal treasures are very important.
When
I tried to sell some of my stuff before moving abroad for the first
time a few years ago was a shock when a girl came around to see what
sells. She looked with disdain my stuff like my things were not good enough. It
particularly bothered me because I was younger, I did not have a good
education, depended on social services and above all that I was
pregnant. In other words, it is likely to be the world's most demanding consumer. Ultimately,
only sold the washing machine and had only a little time I put a sign
outside the door saying that there was no furniture to free. Shortly after placing the sign, my phone rang and people on the other line is the time to see things. This time, a couple came in and looked really poor and graciously took everything we wanted to air.
I found myself with mixed feelings about it. On one hand I'm glad that things have really appreciated my business and I went to a good cause. On
the other hand, when I saw my bed, I hated my parents for a while, and
finally bought, to be born, I was much more upset and decided that
nothing like this happen again .
When
you move to another country or if you plan to go around the world for a
longer period of time, the preparation on what to do with their
treasures is very important. You should start planning as soon as you know for sure when it will stop.
Now
my next big movement occurs because my husband and I will be perpetual
travelers and this time my "garage sale" is certainly proves different. Preparation is the key to my success.
How did I do, here's my simple inventory system:
I = Inspect. Inspect the entire house or apartment. Discover everything including the basement, garage, patio, etc.
N = Notes. Become notes. Take a notebook and write a list on your computer all the things you have. Add descriptions and measurements, materials, etc. The more information you have the better prepared you will be.
V = value. What is the value of things? Check the list and think. Not only in monetary terms, but also in an emotional way. Do not underestimate your emotions.
E = Elect. Choose a category. Once
you understand how your valuables that you choose a category in the
next five years to help decide what to do with their treasures.
Write the letter applies, ie, N, T, S, R, and with the elements of the list.
N = Maybe not. In no case are the items you really want to keep. There is no doubt in your mind that you could unravel if these things.
T = things. This category includes things that you want to give as a gift for family and friends.
O = Offer to sell. These are the things you want to sell. While
you write your notes with details of these measures, see if all of
these are in good condition, ie check that electrical work again. At the same time, you can also take pictures of your items. Pictures worth investing a little time, because the better the image, the more it will be sold!
R = trash. All you want to throw or give strangers free comes in this category.
Y = You'll see. You will see later what to do with your goodies in this category.
When
you have finished taking your notes and class choice can then start
looking at storing your things, open your garage sale online or locally
and get rid of everything unnecessary.
