Ancient Greece History

The people who lived in ancient Greece flourished for nearly 4,000 years. Civilization is based in Europe and today the region is known as Bulgaria and Turkey. The leaders of the Greek civilization was the thirst for the capture of other civilizations. While empires spread their culture across Europe. No one could defeat them and were the most powerful civilization that lived on Earth from 2000 BC to 146 BC.Many Greek parents wanted their child to be a child, because only a son could take care of them later in life. The girls were after the wedding and they even wanted to give a dowry. Greek houses were made of sun-dried and most of them were small bricks. There were slaves of the rich and the slaves had to do all the work for them. They produce their own cotton or linen.


The Greeks were very religious and believed that the gods and goddesses took care while living in a palace cloud standing on top of Mount Olympus. Athens was the capital of Greece and the people who lived there has been enriched with valuable sources of silver and marble. Democracy was invented in the world of people who lived in Athens and only men were granted the right to vote for something. They met and talked about the problems prevailing in the country and meeting places can be seen today.While people of Athens were trying to form a government based on democracy, the rivals who were known as the Spartans had two kings. One of them remained in the village and the other for battles. The Spartans were very good in battles and they spent a lot of time training them.The first Olympic Games were also initiated in ancient Greece, there are more than 2700 years. The first games were held in Olympia in honor of Zeus, who was considered the king of the gods. Greek culture was filled with arts and most cities had theaters. They were all open and theaters where people gathered to enjoy drama and music. An architectural wealth widespread at the time and can even be seen in the ruins left. Greek sculptors had the talent to make figures of gods and people and statues remained in the cities and temples.
